About the Recipe
A gentle, easy-to-digest meal perfect for pups with sensitive stomachs or for a soothing, low-fat dinner. The pumpkin is excellent for digestive health.

Ingredients
1 lb Ground Chicken or Ground Turkey
½ cup 100% Pure Canned Pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie filling)
1 cup fresh Spinach, finely chopped
¼ cup Plain, Non-Fat Yogurt (ensure it contains no artificial sweeteners, especially xylitol, which is toxic to dogs)
1 tablespoon Olive Oil
Preparation
Step 1: Cook the Ground Chicken
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground chicken, breaking it up with a spoon or spatula. Cook for 6-8 minutes, stirring frequently, until the chicken is fully cooked through and no longer pink.
Step 2: Wilt the Spinach
Add the finely chopped spinach to the skillet with the cooked chicken. Continue to cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the spinach has wilted and reduced in volume.
Step 3: Incorporate the Pumpkin
Reduce the heat to low. Add the ½ cup of pure canned pumpkin to the skillet. Stir thoroughly until the pumpkin is evenly distributed and the chicken and spinach are fully coated. Heat for another 1-2 minutes until the mixture is warm throughout. Remove the skillet from the heat.
Step 4: Cool and Add Yogurt
Allow the chicken and pumpkin mixture to cool to room temperature. This is essential before adding the yogurt and serving.Once the mixture is cool, stir in the ¼ cup of plain yogurt. The yogurt provides beneficial probiotics, but adding it while the food is hot will kill the good bacteria.
Serving Size Guide:
Small Dogs (under 20 lbs): ¼ to ½ cup.
Medium Dogs (20-50 lbs): ½ to ¾ cup.
Large Dogs (50+ lbs): ¾ to 1 cup.
Pro-Tip: Plain yogurt can cause issues for some lactose-intolerant dogs. If you're unsure, you can simply omit it—the recipe is still delicious and healthy without it! You can also substitute pureed, steamed sweet potato for the pumpkin.
