About the Recipe
Skip the store-bought rawhide! These natural chews are a healthy, digestible alternative that satisfies your dog's urge to gnaw. They are great for dental health and are made with just one ingredient.

Ingredients
1-2 large Sweet Potatoes
Preparation
Dehydrator Method (Recommended):
Step 1: Slice
Thoroughly scrub the sweet potatoes. Leaving the skin on for extra nutrients, slice them into ¼ to ½-inch thick strips, similar to the size of store-bought jerky strips.
Step 2: Dehydrate
Arrange the strips in a single layer on your dehydrator trays, ensuring they are not touching. Dehydrate at 125°F (52°C) for 6-8 hours, or until they are leathery and tough, with no soft spots remaining.
Oven Method:
Step 1: Preheat and Slice
Preheat your oven to its lowest possible setting (usually 175-200°F or 80-95°C). Slice the sweet potatoes as described above.
Step 2: Bake Low and Slow
Place the slices directly on the oven racks or on a wire rack set over a baking sheet (to allow for air circulation). Bake for 2-3 hours, flipping halfway through, until they are dried and chewy.
Step 3: Cool
Let the chews cool completely before giving one to your dog. They will harden a bit more as they cool.
Pro-Tip:
Thinner slices will be crunchier, while thicker slices will be chewier. Adjust based on your dog's chewing style and dental health. Always supervise your dog with any chew treat.
Storage: Store in a paper bag or airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
