About the Recipe
A warm, soothing, and fiber-rich breakfast, ideal for cooler mornings or for senior dogs who appreciate a softer meal. Oatmeal is a great source of soluble fiber, which can aid digestion.

Ingredients
1 cup Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats (do not use instant oatmeal with added flavors/sugar)
2 cups Water
2 tablespoons Xylitol-Free Peanut Butter
¼ cup dog-safe Berries (e.g., blueberries, raspberries, chopped strawberries)
Optional: 1 teaspoon ground Flaxseed or Chia seeds for an omega-3 boost
Preparation
Step 1: Cook the Oats
In a small saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Stir in the 1 cup of rolled oats and reduce the heat to a simmer.Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the water is absorbed and the oats are tender.
Step 2: Incorporate the Mix-ins
Remove the oatmeal from the heat. Immediately stir in the peanut butter and optional flaxseed or chia seeds until everything is well combined and the peanut butter is melted in.
Step 3: Cool Thoroughly
Transfer the oatmeal to a bowl and allow it to cool completely. This is a critical step, as hot oatmeal can cause serious burns.Once cool, gently fold in the fresh berries.
Serving Size Guide:
Small Dogs (under 20 lbs): ¼ cup
Medium Dogs (20-50 lbs): ½ cup
Large Dogs (50+ lbs): ¾ cup
Pro-Tip: For picky eaters, you can mash the berries into the oatmeal to create a more uniform texture and flavor. Always let this meal cool completely to a lukewarm or room temperature state before serving.
Storage: Refrigerate for up to 4 days. Reheat with a splash of water to regain consistency.
