Serves:

About 30 small meatballs

About the Recipe

These are the ultimate high-value training treat or meal topper. Rich in iron and vitamins, a little goes a long way! Perfect for stuffing into puzzle toys.

Ingredients

  • ½ lb Ground Beef or Turkey

  • ¼ lb Beef or Chicken Liver, finely chopped or puréed

  • 1 Egg

  • ½ cup Rolled Oats (or whole wheat breadcrumbs)

  • ½ cup grated Carrot

Preparation

Step 1: Preheat and Prepare

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2: Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, finely chopped liver, egg, rolled oats, and grated carrot. Mix thoroughly with your hands or a spoon until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

Step 3: Form the Meatballs

Using a teaspoon or a small cookie scoop, portion the mixture and roll it into small, bite-sized balls (about 1-inch in diameter). Place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 4: Bake and Cool

Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and firm to the touch.Let them cool completely on the baking sheet before storing. Due to the liver, ensure they are fully cooled to prevent spoilage.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Training: Break into tiny pea-sized pieces.

  • Meal Topper: Crumble 2-3 over your dog's regular kibble.

  • Puzzle Toy: Use whole, as a high-value reward in a Kong or snuffle mat.

Pro-Tip: Soaking the liver in milk for 10 minutes before chopping can help reduce the strong smell.

Storage: Refrigerate for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 6 months.
